It may sound odd, but Bigfoot has always been a part of my family.

My grandfather likes to call himself a survivalist.



He has this big collection of "men's magazines", like the pulpy ones with paintings of big manly explorers saving helpless pin-ups girls on the covers. After WWII he became much more isolated and fixed on stories of mountaineers returning from Mount Everest. Once the abominable snowman became a part of the story he just couldn't let it go.

He'd even started saving up to go out there himself, at least until 1959 when he saw him in his own backyard.

huh that’s so weird my grandfather was like that too. I always thought it was just a story he told us to scare us into staying inside at night
